SUNDAY BRUNCH Top Twenty
-- Mpls StPaul Magazine--

Campiello Friendly Campiello—the D'Amico brothers' sunny slice of Tuscany in Uptown—is my special-occasion cafe. Recently my wife and I celebrated our anniversary there (never mind how many years), and, as always, the setting, service, and food were exemplary—that is, worthy of one another. Like its lunch and dinner menus, the restaurant's brunch offerings are extensive and top-to-bottom appealing: everything from an artichoke, potato, and red-onion frittata to a grilled New York strip steak, with sides including English muffins and Parmesan grits, and desserts of milk-chocolate apple crostata, tiramisu and gelato. After champagne, coffeecake, and fresh fruit (grapefruit, melon, kiwi), we finally settled on the grilled Calabrese sausage (served with two eggs, scrambled, and au gratin potatoes) and pecan waffles (with fresh strawberries and cream), both of which were gorgeously presented, generously portioned (I gallantly helped Libby with the waffles), and delicious.
